ofOctober2023.TheRoundtablewasattendedbytheinterestedpartiesfrom
Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the
UnitedStatesofAmerica,Vietnam,aswellasrepresentativesandobserversfromFood
and Agriculture Organization (FAO), International Union for Conservation of Nature and
Natural Resources (IUCN), and World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH). We
collectively acknowledged the recent emergence and consequential socio-economic
damagecausedbyzoonoticdiseasessuchasCOVID-19,Mpox,andHighlyPathogenic
Avian Influenza (HPAI), and recognizes the severe international ramifications resulting
fromthespreadofthosediseasesthroughglobalactivity.
In particular, we acknowledge the necessity to establish systematic and scientific
national policies for wildlife disease prevention and management in order to control
human and livestock diseases effectively. We also share the urgent need for joint
agreementbetweennationsandherebystatewithfollowingcommitments.
1. Strengthening International Partnership : Recognizing the indispensable nature of
collaboration among nations and diverse interested parties in combating wildlife
disease, our efforts shall be exerted to promote and reinforce the establishment of
cohesivecollaborationframeworksbetweencountriesaswellasacrossvariouspublic
andprivatesectors.
2.EstablishingtheComprehensiveSurveillanceandEarlyWarningSystem:Weagreeto
establishasystemforthetimelydetectionandmonitoringofwildlifediseaseoutbreak
andthespread,whilestrengtheningthesystemintotheearlywarningsystem.
3.AdvancingScientificDiagnosisandAnalysis:Weshallconductin-depthstudieswith
thedevelopmentofscientificdiagnostictechniquesandqualitycontrolmeasuresas
well as the usage of whole-genome sequencing to ensure accurate diagnosis and
provide the effective response to wildlife disease. If possible, it is also advisable to
identify and appoint research organization in countries with the related interest or
issues that has the capacities to perform the scientific studies, based on human
resources capacities experiencesandskills and facilities toconduct and support the
scientificstudiesmentionedabove.
