ÃÊ ·Ï : Japenese encephalitis (JE) is arthropod-borne (arbo) viral
zoonosis of public health importance. The incidence of JE is widely
distributed throughout Southeast Asia. Japanese encephalitis virus
(JEV)as causeative agent of JE is transmitted by blood-sucking
insects like mosquitoes. While JEV induce fatal infection in human,
JEV primarily associated with reproductive failures like abortions and
stillbirths in pregnant swine. However, since the vector insects can
transmit the virus to susceptible animals during blood feeding cycles,
the animal infected with JEV remain clinically asymptomatic. In this
study, we investigated the serological incidence of JEV in domestic
cattle and aborted calves.
