First report and eradication of Neoleucinodes elegantalis in Switzerland
In Switzerland,a single adult of Neoleucinodes elegantalis (Lepidoptera: Crambidae - EPPOA1
List)was found in a private household. No infested plant material was found. It is likely that the
individual of N. elegantalis arrived with packaged fruits of either Solanum lycopersicum or Solanum
melongena bought at local supermarkets. The introduction of the insect did not lead to its
establishment. It may be recalled that in the EPPOregion,N. elegantalis is regularly intercepted in
imported consignments (see EPPORS2021/031).
The pest status of Neoleucinodes elegantalis in Switzerland is officially declared as: Absent,pest
eradicated.
