Abstract：
Vaccine can prevent or ameliorate the effects of infection by many pathogens. Vaccination is
generally considered to be the most effective and cost-effective method of preventing
infectious diseases. In current swine industry, vaccination is an essential process that protects
domestic pigs against the enormous swine disease. But vaccination has sometimes caused
some side-effects such as fever, pain, loss of appetite and tiredness, so-called “vaccine
stress”. This vaccine stress in young piglets leads to diminution of the weight gaining ratio
that is directly connected with economical loss in the future. In recent, some of vaccines
showed severe vaccine stress at insanitary farm caused by spread of wasting disease such as
PCVD, PRRS and PRDC etc. In this study, we attempted to develop the “vaccine stress
reliever (VSR)” as a drug that diminish the vaccine stress and helps animal relax after
vaccine injection.In live CSF vaccine experiment, group A was scored as 23 points and group
B as 93 points when the control (group C) was considered as 100 points. Antibody titers of
the VRS added group B changed as high as normally seen after vaccinated only CSF vaccine
(group A). In inactivated TGE/PED vaccine, group A was scored as 28 points and group B
as 99 points by conversion of the control (group C) group as 100 point. All of the pigs in
group added VRS showed normally rising of VN antibody titer during the entire experiments.
In vitro assay, addition of VRS to live CSF virus (LOM strain) showed no reducing the
virus titer differently as general antipyretic drugs.This novel VSR was demonstrated its
potential for relaxation of vaccine stress and its safety and efficacy. It helps swine farms to
overcome the phenomenon of vaccine evasion caused by vaccine stress and consequently to
prevent swine disease such as CSF and PED/TGE by normal vaccination execution.
