Welcome to the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (QIA).
I am Joo Yi-Seok, Commissioner of QIA.
In the 21st century, frequent outbreaks of major animal diseases such
as Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza(HPAI) and Foot and Mouth
Disease(FMD) have been reported in Korea, and the increased market
openings following the conclusion of FTAs with various countries
around the world and climate change caused by global warming have
led to more outbreaks of various diseases and pests.
All QIA staff will fulfill their responsibilities for border quarantine and
animal disease control without fail to realize a Korea free from animal
diseases and plant pests, and seek to become a global leading institute
in the fields of veterinary science and plant quarantine.
We look forward to your continued support.
