In addition, the world’s first commercialization technology of rapid kits to differentiate FMD
serotypes was selected as one of the country’s top 100 research and development outcomes, and
thenitrogeninflateddisinfectionmethodforplantquarantinewaschosenasoneofthecountry’stop
10 technologies to respond to climate change.The APQA was also recognized as the OIE Reference
Laboratory for Salmonellosis,serving an opportunity to raise its R&D status.Furthermore,the APQA
obtainedthefollowingresultswhichcanbefeltbythepeopleinthefield:increasingthenumberof
animal welfare certified farms,strengthening safety management of livestock products through the
inspectionandassessmentofHACCPoperation,improvingtheindustry-friendlysystemofveterinary
medicinalproducts.
TheAPQAhasnowpublishedandprovidedthe2018APQAAnnualReportinwhichitsachievements
made over the past year were organized and summarized.As an agency responsible for animal and
planthealth,theAPQAwillcontinuetomakeeveryefforttoachievethevalueofOne-Healthtolaythe
foundationforahealthyandsustainableagro-livestockindustry.
Finally,Iwouldliketoexpressmysinceregratitudeforallthesupportandcooperationofagro-livestock
farmers,producer and consumer organizations,and the academia.I hope the Annual Report will be
utilized as useful materials contributing to the growth and development of Korea’s agro-livestock
industry.
