importedforuseasnurserystock(includingbulbs)havechanged.
Thischangeisbeingmadefollowingpolicyadviceidentifyingseveralfungalpathogensof
Alliumspp.
Whathaschanged:
All Allium spp. have been removed from the following BICON cases, and those cases
havebeensuspended:
‘BulbsthatarehostsofXylellafastidiosaforgrowthinopenquarantine’
‘Alliumsativumforuseasnurserystock’
‘Alliumporrumforuseasnurserystock’
‘Alliumampeloprasumforuseasnurserystock’.
AllpermittedAlliumspp.importedasnurserystock(includingbulbs)willbesubjectto
import conditions listed in the BICON case 'Xylella fastidiosa hosts for use as nursery
stock'.
Theseconditionsincludegrowthofplants(otherthantissuecultures)inclosedpostentry
quarantine(ina facilityoperatingundera class 5.4, 6.1or 20.0ApprovedArrangement)
foraminimumof3months.
TheseconditionsareconsideredappropriatetomanagetherisksoffungionAlliumspp.
toanappropriatelevelofprotection.
